Love in Chocolate Cake

Last week, my youngest nephew turned 11. We had a small family birthday dinner at my mom's on his actual birthday and then a party on Sunday at my mom's. My nephew got the new Nexus tablet... it is awesome but it only took me about 10 hours to figure it out and download some games for him to be able to play before wrapping it up. I *refuse* to buy anything not Apple ever again!

This is the awesome double-decker cake my mom made (Jake requested!).

Chocolate cake was my grandmother's specialty. Whenever you visited her near your birthday she always had a chocolate birthday cake ready and waiting. We all agreed no one would ever make it as good as she could... Why? We mentioned different things she did but realized she NEVER made it the same way (sometimes she froze it, sometimes she used applesauce, etc). We all agreed, it was the LOVE she put in it that made it the best cake ever.

Quarter of a Century

Today, I turn 25.

A Quarter of a Century.

Birthday Celebration Saturday Night

It feels amazing to be in the best shape of my life at 25! Things have changed so much in the last year. I have lots of things to work on still in life but I'm happy to say I've become an athlete again... and I have even become a runner (gasp!)!!

Thanks to everyone who has supported me in life!!

Whirlwind

This weekend was a whirlwind of events. I honestly cannot even wrap my head around it all.

Thursday night we surprised my 9 month preggo BFF with dinner & girls night… to try to take her mind off the fact that she was STILL preggo and miserable. We had dinner & dessert, made cookie dough to freeze AND her husband brought her push present (a beautiful dining room table he had made her!).

The night was so much fun and when I left I remembered I hadn’t taken a picture of her (which I always do, just in case) so I turned around and went back and got this beautiful photo.

This is the last photo of her preggo because she went into labor 8 hours later. She called me at 5:45am the next morning (I was on my way to my morning run) and I screamed into her poor ear while she tried to breathe through a contraction. I did my morning run, showered & went to straight to the hospital. Where the poor thing labored for 16 hours (pushing for 4!!) before she delivered the most adorable baby boy. Brodie Liam weighed 8lbs 13.5 ounces and was 22 inches long. I immediately fell in love. I am still in awe of the strength Lindsay showed on Friday!

Saturday morning I was up & at ‘em for my 6:30am run with the girls. If it wasn’t for them I would’ve run a few miles and called it quits to I could hurry up and go see Brodie again. Luckily, they pushed me on (I mean Lindz probably wouldn’t have appreciated me showing up at the hospital at 7am haha). We did a great 8.5 mile run and got some good girl talk time in.

Then it was off to see Lindz & baby Brodie. I finally got to fully see the head of hair that kids has… WOW! He’s so handsome! After a quick visit, I headed home to get ready for my (early) birthday party at the river. It was amazing (with amazing food & drink). Then it was home to get cleaned up then out to dinner and the bar with friends for more celebrations. It was a blast, but I am not as young as I once was!

Sunday morning I was too exhausted and was not feeling the best, so I skipped my AM run. I caught up on some sleep and then we met my parents to head to Nelson County for some brewery visits. Sunday was my stepdad’s birthday so we did joint b-day celebrations! We went to Devil’s Backbone for lunch and beer and then Blue Mountain Brewery for beer & dessert.

I had the worst belly ache of my life Sunday night from eating and drinking things I normally do not. This morning I tried for my normal AM run (alone since my normal running buddy is at training this week) but I had the worst arch pain of my life. I’m hoping it’s the heels I wore Saturday and Sunday. I took my shoes off 3 times and adjusted but still nothing! I finally gave in a 1.5 miles and went home to do crunches/pushups/arms. I’m hoping for a much better run tomorrow!

Birthday Wish List

My birthday (July 17) wish list (even tho babe doesn't even read my blog):

Because I'm so tired of the wire running from my arm getting tangled.

Yeah, so I only have one bib, but this will motivate me to get more!

I love the NikePlus watch but it seems everyone uses this one AND the Nike Plus one works just like my Nike Plus app so maybe I'd like something different.
Because I totally want to try these! I drink so much water and this is a healthy way to change it up!

This is the most practical and necessary thing on the list! My current one doesn't protect my phone from my sweat and has zero pockets.

2 months?! Eeek.

It's been over two months since I posted... I'm sorry internet world {in case you noticed I was missing}. Let me catch you up on the last two months photo style {courtesy of the iphone}.

Construction begins at work on the expanded office space -- this is my new view!

Andy hung my $3 yard sale light... score!

I went back BLONDE!

Cupcakes for Andy for Valentine's Day!

Andy's Valentine's Day present!

Valentine's Day Flowers from Andy.

Justin Moore & Blake Shelton concert!

Love note left on my car while I was out for girls night :)

Yeah, I played the whole stand the broom game.

And we celebrated Andy's birthday - QUARTER OF A CENTURY - at a brewery of course!

I helped Jake with his science fair project -- he ended up winning 5th place at the County fair!

Decided I had worked hard enough to rock a bikini on vacation.

My amazing mom turned 52!

I started running in the park... and now hate my treadmill.

I started making smoothies with greek yogurt... yum!

I packed for a 2 week insane vacation/road trip with babe!

In two weeks we drove 40+ hours... and we're still married.

We went to World of Beers... and I never wanted to leave!

I stomped divots at a polo match.
Babe & I at the Polo match!

We spent 5 days in Miami enjoying this view every day.

I decided I wanted to live in Miami, the water was amazing!

We tried conch fritters... and I fell in love!

We took a lot of self portraits :)

We spent time with my big brother and I cried like a baby when I had to leave him.

We took a cruise to the Bahamas (more self portraits).

And I gambled for the first time ever!

We visited Savannah, GA and ate at the fabulous Olde Pink House.

We came home for one night and celebrated Allie turning 3!

Then we went to Philadelphia because I had a seminar for work.

We came home & took the boys fishing at the Shale.

We immediately remembered why we love the Valley and decided not to move to Miami.

I cooked a big Easter lunch for the PD since Andy had to work.

We finally got rid of the hideous brown door.

I became addicted to words with friends.

I started realizing I could run further than I ever thought I could.

Jake had an awesome Orff & chorus concert.

I invested in a good pair of running shoes.

Dillon turned THIRTEEN. I may or may not of told him his birth story from my perspective as a 6th grader.

The last two months have been a crazy whirlwind.. but I love it! This is my so called grown up life!
