OBX

When Andy and I had just started down this crazy journey of dating, he made me fall in love with my favorite vacation spot: the Outer Banks (OBX). I had been to the Outer Banks 3X before in High School (Duck twice and Nags Head once) and liked it, but didn't full appreciate it until I became a regular, visiting 2X a year in the off season. We love the off season because it's peaceful, a great long weekend getaway and we always find fun stuff to do!

This year we decided to make a trip earlier than our normal October/November off-season with my parents. We rented a house in Duck, near the beach and my nephews even joined us for a few days.

The OBX is one of my favorite vacation spots - I would love to own a house so I could visit all the time. I've also discovered September may be one of my favorite times to visit - the ocean is warm but it's breezy so you don't get hot. I loved wearing a sweatshirt with bikini bottoms and napping on the beach!

Love the Beach Life!

I love all of these horse statues throughout the OBX

Sunday Fun

Sunday Andy took a vacation day that would be soon expiring. We didn’t make any plans ahead of time, but the day worked out perfectly all on its own.

First, it was my normal 6am Sunday run in the park. I went for a 6 mile run (in some new running gear from my mom, early birthday present!). The weather was great (not too hot) and I am in love with my new socks mom bought me (more on the new running gear later).

Then we joined some friends to hike Humpback Rocks. I had never hiked Humpback… honestly I’ve done very little hiking in my life. I’ve never been super “Outdoorsy” but I’ve been working on changing that. My very large fear of snakes (think near panic attacks at the thought of snakes) almost kept me from going but I conquered my fear (for the day) and went.  {I thanked God we did not see any on our hike}. The hike was great – it definitely made me sweat on the way up (think straight up for about a mile). It worked muscles that I don’t normally work, which felt great! The view at the top was gorgeous. Thanks to our friends for inviting us and being more prepared than we were (with backpacks, snacks and bug spray).

After the river & a quick lunch at home, we took the dogs to the river. My mom & nephews joined for a bit. Andy’s mom & stepdad did as well. And then we had some friends (who are getting married in November!) stop in for awhile. We spent the afternoon just lazing in our chairs, watching the dogs & kids play and working on our tan a little (we spent more time in the shade!). It was the perfect ending to our day.

We must’ve been pretty worn out since we went home, ate a little supper and then fell asleep for an hour or so! Oops! After a rough week (broken lawn mower, broken a/c), it was exactly what we needed.

2 months?! Eeek.

It's been over two months since I posted... I'm sorry internet world {in case you noticed I was missing}. Let me catch you up on the last two months photo style {courtesy of the iphone}.

Construction begins at work on the expanded office space -- this is my new view!

Andy hung my $3 yard sale light... score!

I went back BLONDE!

Cupcakes for Andy for Valentine's Day!

Andy's Valentine's Day present!

Valentine's Day Flowers from Andy.

Justin Moore & Blake Shelton concert!

Love note left on my car while I was out for girls night :)

Yeah, I played the whole stand the broom game.

And we celebrated Andy's birthday - QUARTER OF A CENTURY - at a brewery of course!

I helped Jake with his science fair project -- he ended up winning 5th place at the County fair!

Decided I had worked hard enough to rock a bikini on vacation.

My amazing mom turned 52!

I started running in the park... and now hate my treadmill.

I started making smoothies with greek yogurt... yum!

I packed for a 2 week insane vacation/road trip with babe!

In two weeks we drove 40+ hours... and we're still married.

We went to World of Beers... and I never wanted to leave!

I stomped divots at a polo match.
Babe & I at the Polo match!

We spent 5 days in Miami enjoying this view every day.

I decided I wanted to live in Miami, the water was amazing!

We tried conch fritters... and I fell in love!

We took a lot of self portraits :)

We spent time with my big brother and I cried like a baby when I had to leave him.

We took a cruise to the Bahamas (more self portraits).

And I gambled for the first time ever!

We visited Savannah, GA and ate at the fabulous Olde Pink House.

We came home for one night and celebrated Allie turning 3!

Then we went to Philadelphia because I had a seminar for work.

We came home & took the boys fishing at the Shale.

We immediately remembered why we love the Valley and decided not to move to Miami.

I cooked a big Easter lunch for the PD since Andy had to work.

We finally got rid of the hideous brown door.

I became addicted to words with friends.

I started realizing I could run further than I ever thought I could.

Jake had an awesome Orff & chorus concert.

I invested in a good pair of running shoes.

Dillon turned THIRTEEN. I may or may not of told him his birth story from my perspective as a 6th grader.

The last two months have been a crazy whirlwind.. but I love it! This is my so called grown up life!
