Call me maybe?!

I just met you and this is crazy but here's my number, call me maybe.

One thing I love about babe is his ability to make me laugh. So when he belted out this song when we were out jogging it was no surprise. Here's my 25 year old husband belting out a song that sounds like a 12 year old should be singing it (I had not heard the song at that point, I now have).

So now, I can not get that song or the image of him singing it to me out of my head. I'm not sure want to tho though, it definitely makes me smile.

I Wanna… be a Roller Derby Girl

This weekend Andy & I made the short 2 hour drive to Andy’s best friend’s house in Richmond. I have two Aunt’s in Richmond and since the shopping is much, much better there than in the Valley, I’ve made that drive hundreds of times. This time we were not going for the shopping (although I did squeeze some in), we went to see John’s girlfriend Jess in her Roller Derby bout… yep, that’s right, she’s a Roller Derby Girl. And I’m insanely jealous because she’s awesome.

I’ve never been to a Roller Derby “bout” (yes, that’s what their games are called). I did watch the movie about the roller derby girl (the title I cannot remember), I think on our flight to Mexico, but somehow I missed the real rules of the sport. Thankfully we caught the last 20 minutes of the bout before Jess’ team bc we were completely lost! I would explain how it works, but you can just do what I did and Google it (thank God for iphones).

I had made posters like a nerd super-fan. And we got insanely into the bout. We were jumping up, cheering, screaming for the jammer and cringing when we thought she wouldn’t call off the jam before the other jammer scored. We were tracking the scoreboard and freaking out when the other team closed in on the 20 point lead – no worries tho, Jess’ team won. This sport is awesome.

Roller Derby Girls!

I’ve insisted to babe ever since leaving the bout that I want to be a Roller Derby Girl. I can’t think of a better way to exercise AND get my aggression out! AND they get really awesome nick names… what more could you want? Babe would say “no broken bones”…

Back in February I fulfilled my tech gadget dreams the day Verizon released the IPHONE!

So fast forward to October 4th and reading the live stream at work.... 

When they released the IPHONE 4S...

Like a true apple sucker lover, I pre-ordered the first day. Then I made the mistake of asking babe if he wanted to try having an iphone (my old one)....

He decided to give it a try. One $80 case later (he's a little rough on phones) I can no longer get my husband to do my errands (laundry, dishes, etc) while he's waiting on me to get ready because he's busy playing something like this...

I honestly don't know what the game is he actually plays, but I know it involves Zombies and apparently you cannot easily "pause" it.... 

We recently added a must have dinner at the dinner table rule (except when he's getting ready for work while I'm working out, then he eats in the gym with me). 

 

We will also be adding a no phones at the dinner table rule....

40 Hours

I've spent the last 40 hours with my husband.

Yep, the only time we've been apart was when I left him on the side of the road with my brother to go get a spare set of keys to the vehicle they were trying to fix {long story}.

And an awesome 40 hours it has been. After juggling his crazy schedule for a month, we finally had a weekend off together, with no plans. So what did we do?

We started out here, at the Wine Cellar, for a wine tasting.

Then we went to our favorite place of course for dinner. The chocolate torte was amazing. 

Then we tried to go here, to see "A Christmas Carol" but it was sold out. 

Instead we went to visit some family. Drove around looking at Christmas lights and listening to Christmas Music. And ended the night at Andy's best friend's house decorating their Christmas Tree. 

I couldn't have been happier.

Then Saturday we slept in together {that hasn't happened in forever!}. And finally made the visit to this huge antique place we've been eyeing, Morris Mill Antiques.

It is a huge, old factory with TONS of stuff. They even house UVA's surplus furniture for sale. Their website {which I didn't find until I googled them for a photo for the blog} says this:

 Let me just say that the 80,000 square feet is definitely correct. The "reasonably priced" may be a stretch. Although, there are definitely reasonably priced pieces, there are also $2,000 tables and $800 plates {yeah, Andy picked one of those plates up... yikes!}. 

I wish I had snapped photos of our favorites... The Red Fox stained glass window {for Andy's future bar}... the biggest office chair in the world... the old sinks and short toilets {??}... It was definitely interesting! I recommend you go and walk around - we definitely enjoyed ourselves!

We then visited a few gun stores, in search of Andy's next gun purchase: a gun for me... I applied for my concealed weapons permit this past week and we are looking for a gun for me to conceal carry. I'm pretty sure I never expected to say those words.... ever. 

 The rest of our time has included a visit to the library {where we ran into Valerie & Andrew, I love living in a small town}, pizza & movie time, impromptu basketball game w/ my nephews and helping my sister when she was stranded on the side of the road.

I can't wait to see what today brings... although it may be hot chocolate by the fireplace if it really is as icy as everyone on facebook keeps saying...
