Doors, Doors, Doors.

When we moved into our house all 7 doors (including our shed doors) were brown. Brown house, brown shed, brown doors. I guess the builders get points for matching!

We bought a new door for our main entrance (which is actually the side of our house) at one point and then found out it would be a fiasco to have it installed (they guy said he would rip out some of our house surrounding the door, then add the wood back… umm no thank you). It was quickly returned and frustrated we just gave up for awhile. Finally, we decided to paint our door. Since we were painting one, I (being matchy-matchy) said we needed to paint them all.

Let me start with the note that paint chips aren’t always what they seem to be. There is a good reason why people buy samples and paint them on first. The dark “Mountain Pine” I selected to go with our wooden A-Frame house, didn’t turn out so “dark”. After the initial shock of the color being unplanned (we all know I don’t like when things go differently than planned), I realized I liked it! Yes, this was after we called both of our moms to come over and give their opinions… thank goodness we live close to our moms!

No longer  does our door blend with our house or shed. Now they pop in a beautiful green/blue/gray color! We have 3 of the 7 doors down… our front two sets of double doors remain! The first round of 3 doors took us just a few hours to complete two coats of paint  - it’s actually a pretty quick project! The weather has not been cooperating lately so we are currently waiting for good weather on a Saturday when is Andy is off to complete the project. Hopefully next weekend we can complete the doors, I’ll be excited to have people over for dinner on the deck when the doors are complete.

Making Progress?

When we moved in we had great plans for all the DIY work we would do to our house... that all stopped after about... Day 1. We painted the master bedroom, closet & bath before we moved in. Looking back, I would have painted the entire house before moving in. Ahh, hindsight, it's 20/20.

We have painted the guest bedroom.... but I let Andy pick the color which he promised he'd repaint if I didn't like it. Well I didn't love it and it's still not repainted.

We did get the decks stained finalllyyyy... but I feel like we've been at a stand still on making our house home. I mean, we haven't put a single nail in the wall.

So this week started our master bath overhaul. To make a long story short - we found a huge hole in the master shower the day we moved in. And it's one of those single piece units that they put in when the house is going up. The hole was huge and patching it wasn't a good idea. After a horrible experience with Bath Fitters we hung a shower curtain and never looked at it again. We showered in the guest bath across the hall for the last year and a half and finally picked a contractor to come tear our the old shower & put in a new one.

Here's to progress!!! And look at that DEEP tub... ahhh I can just feel the bubble bath I'm going to take when this is all over.

We also decided (unless we chicken out) to sand and paint the vanity (which someone has already done in the past) and possibly replace some fixtures and repaint while it's all a mess already! Hopefully we'll make a trip or two to Lowe's/Home Depot this weekend and get to work! Here's to hoping for success!

Vanity Currently - love the double sinks. Hate the color. Hate the faucets. Hate the lights on the medicine cabinet but LOVE the medicine cabinet!
