Christmas Tree Saga...

As you saw from my last blog, Andy & I got our first Christmas Tree! We drove a good 45mins out to Zirkle's Tree Farm. Last year Andy joined my family for our annual search for the biggest Christmas Tree. That journey led us to 3 {that's right, three!} Christmas Tree Farms. At the end of tree farm #2, Andy decided to call it a day and go home. The rest of us headed on to another tree farm... which is when we found Zirkle's. They have TALL Christmas Trees. A requirement for my brother and I, as we've been picking the tallest Christmas Trees since mom bought our house in Mount Sidney {with Cathedral Ceilings}.

This year, when we got rid of a TV downstairs in the living room, I knew Andy and I had to buy a TALL tree because we have open ceilings. So off to Zirkle's we went. A whole crew of us actually: Mom, Jeff, Scottie, Rodeo {Scott's dog) Dillon, Jacob, Me, Andy, Parker, Allie, Cathy and Ronnie. We were on a mission to buy a Christmas Tree for each of our parents AND a Christmas Tree for our house.

First, let me say it is exhausting trying to find 3 perfect trees. And trying to jump between families to help them find that tree AND still find our own... but we succeeded!!

Cutting down our first Christmas tree!!

Last year, after Christmas, I knew we would probably have a tree of our own this year so I went to my favorite store {Target} and bought a ton of Silver Ornaments {for like 90% off}. I purchased a bunch of white lights from Lowe's for only $1.98 a box on Sunday. When we decorated the tree, I realized that my decision to never get any tree but a white pine, probably wasn't a good idea. I love pine trees, but the ornaments have to go so far back on the branch {so they don't fall off} that the silver ornaments just kind of blend in. Sure it looks pretty and sparkly, but it just doesn't *jump* at you like I thought it would.

I tried buying some red ornaments and adding them, but that didn't do it for me either. So of course, I'll be returning those. I think I'll just enjoy our first {not so perfect} Christmas Tree. And as I typed this it reminded me, yet again, of a blog by Priscilla... her "Worthy Wednesday". So here it goes...

I do not have to have the Perfect Christmas Tree to be Worthy.

So come on by, visit my not-so-perfect tree at my not-so-perfect house and enjoy a glass of wine {or beer} with me! I love visitors :)

P.S. - I was going to upload a picture of our Christmas Tree BUT then you wouldn't have to come visit to see it. So I'm going to hold out a little while longer on the photo and make you come visit instead.
