Cupcake Tasting

So I'm in the process of scheduling my first cake... err I mean cupcake tasting for the Wedding Reception. Why cupcakes? Well ever since I got engaged I knew I'd be doing cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. You see my Aunt Louise made everyone's wedding cake in my family. Seriously amazing looking and even better tasting. And I always knew she'd make my wedding cake. But almost 3 years ago she passed away after a long battle with cancer - and I decided I would not be serving a "wedding cake". So cupcakes it is. Now I'm on the search for who will make my cupcakes (I was seriously fine with Food Lion but my mom and sister were not about to let me do that). 

So far I've found a place in Staunton that advertises the cupcake making (not just wedding cake making) - Pastry Love. We had to choose 3 cakes, 3 fillings and 3 icings. After the long & hard decision (Andy finally said "I don't care") we chose 3... Drumroll Please...

Chocolate Chip Cake with Cream Cheese Fluff with Whipped Icing
Yellow Cake with Strawberry Filing with Ganache Icing
Marble Cake with Apple Cinnamon Filing with Buttercream Icing

 

Seriously, we had no idea what we were doing... and hopefully those sound yummy to people other than just us. Now I just can't wait until we go for the tasting! 

 

 

I've also been eye-ing Buttercream Dreams (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=42163916839&ref=ts) and all of her work. Hopefully I'll hear back from her soon too! I'd really like to have two tastings and make a decision because I know I could go on and on with this process but would prefer not to since our wedding reception is less than 3 months away...
